Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, the site collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you send images to be included on the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on the site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These mean you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Your data is not shared with anyone else
No data uploaded in comments or the Lexicon will ever be shared or sold.
External links & platforms
Some projects and writing on this site link to or are hosted on third-party platforms. These sites operate under their own privacy and cookie policies, which are beyond my control. Please review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
How long is data retained?
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so WordPress can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments or added to the Lexicon, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data is hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request for personal data to be erased. This does not include any data the site is obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Lexicon Submissions
Visitors may voluntarily submit proposed entries to a Lexicon – a community-built resource exploring artistic and critical responses to the contemporary landscape – using the contribution form on the site. This form collects the submitted term, its definition, suggested keywords, your preferred credit name (which may be a full name, initials, or anonymous), an optional website or professional profile URL, and your email address.
Submitted data is sent to the site administrator by email for review and is not published automatically. If your submission is accepted and added to the Lexicon, the term, definition, usage example, keywords, and your chosen credit attribution will be made publicly visible. Your email address will not be displayed publicly and is used solely to follow up on your submission if necessary. It will not be added to any mailing list or shared with third parties.
By submitting an entry you confirm that the definition is your own original writing and that you are happy for it to be published on this site with your chosen attribution. You may request removal or amendment of your published entry at any time by contacting us.
Form submissions are powered by WPForms. Their privacy policy is available at: https://wpforms.com/privacy-policy/.cy-policy/.
