I often feel ambivalent about the way so-called straight photography is employed to tell stories, but a few days ago, I enjoyed using my camera to document my oldest friend Trudi Jackson as she transformed from glamorous woman to misogynistic 70s comedian Pat Riarchy. It was fascinating. For the first time in a long while, documentary photography felt relevant, collaborative and worth doing. Pat will be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this year, or you can see him do his thing at Kent’s Screaming Alley Open Mic, if you dare!
