
Some work in progress. I love the rough-edged pages of this old book – by George Bernard Shaw which I have in a collection of books given to me, ostensibly for the sole purpose of ripping up. However, I wonder if I should be putting Shaw’s words through the image generator instead, which is another way of ‘ripping up’. In the meantime, I have been putting my artist’s statement through the image generator – and enjoying some of what the machine comes up with. This was made with the words: “Research and inquiry around and into language, whether it’s formal, academic, sensuous and imaginative, or mechanical, are vital to my practice. I strive to generate questions, rather than offer answers. Lamella, objet a, shiny pinks, hyper-real, –aspect 9:16”. Why, oh why, oh why, did anyone think poetics and technology could not exist together? Perhaps that should be my next prompt?
